All In For Our Schools

Winston-Salem /Forsyth County Schools are facing an unprecedented financial crisis. When our schools are underfunded, everyone loses. But when we stand together, we can change the story. As we come together in support of our schools, we see efforts great and small happening across the community. More importantly, we see joy and excellence happening in our classrooms as teachers do what they do best and students lean into discovery and learning.

The All In For Our Schools website is spearheaded by an Education Collaborative of nonprofits, foundations, business leaders, faith organizations and community advocates across Forsyth County to provide pathways for community action in support of Winston Salem/Forsyth County Schools, teachers, and students and as a coordinated community hub for donation opportunities specific to identified and immediate needs, while evaluating longer-term solutions.

How You Can Help:

Donate

Every dollar goes directly to the classrooms. There are three funds to which you can donate.

WSFCS Student Success Fund

The WSFCS Student Success Fund established by The Winston-Salem Foundation will support students across the school district. Contributions to this fund will be directed to the WS/FCS system to cover specific needs such as curriculum booklets, AP exam fees, background checks for school volunteers, student health assessments, ESL translation services, and other resources to help students succeed.

Education Foundation Classroom Supplies Fund

The Education Foundation Classroom Supplies Fund established by the Education Foundation needs to raise $1.4 million to address the immediate school supplies shortfall. Contributions will be directed to the 81 individual schools across the district. This fund will support teachers by stocking their classrooms with high-quality school supplies such as printer paper and ink, art supplies, science lab kits, notebooks, and other tools for teaching. As this fund grows under the Education Foundation more grants will be made directly to the individual schools.

Community philanthropists Mike and Wendy Brenner have generously pledged $500,000 to match all contributions made to the Supplies Fund. The Brenners, both public school graduates (Mike is a graduate of R.J. Reynolds High School), are dedicated to supporting teachers and students.

Be an Advocate

  • Share the All in For Our Schools website hub with neighbors, friends, and family, as well as organizations, faith communities, businesses, and local officials. The site will grow and showcase how our community is contributing to supporting our students and teachers.
  • Attend different community events to learn more about what is going on with our school system and join the dialogue.
  • Visit the WS/FCS’s Community Budget Updates dashboard for the most current information.
  • Advocate with local and state officials for additional resources in support of our school district.

Volunteer

  • There are so many ways to get involved at schools directly or through the various organizations that support them.
  • Volunteering is a great way to support our schools. It doesn’t cost money—only time, compassion, and belief. And those gifts ripple out into stronger students, stronger families, and a stronger community for us all.

Partner

School-based partnerships are when a school teams up with a business, nonprofit, university, government agency, faith, or community group to improve student outcomes and strengthen the connection between education and the broader community. Through these efforts together we can expand learning opportunities, ease resource gaps, strengthen community trust in public schools, and help prepare students with the knowledge, skills, and networks they need to succeed.
